Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of Shotwright (the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Account & eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account.

2. Your content

You retain all rights to the canvases, references, scripts, images, and other materials you upload or create in Shotwright (“Your Content”). You grant Shotwright a limited license to host, store, transmit, and process Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you and the collaborators you choose.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights necessary to upload, share, and use Your Content with Shotwright, including any third-party material you reference.

Community submissions (Motions). If you submit a clip to the Motions library, you confirm you have the rights or permission to submit it. You grant Shotwright a license to index it and display a short reference preview (a thumbnail and a brief excerpt) with attribution. Shotwright does not re-host full third-party videos; the library stores links and short reference previews only. We may decline or remove any submission, and you may request removal of a clip you contributed at any time by contacting us.

3. AI features

Shotwright uses Anthropic’s Claude API to generate documents (briefs, storyboards, shot lists, frame and folder summaries) from the content you place on the canvas. AI output is provided as-is and may be inaccurate or incomplete; you are responsible for reviewing it before relying on it for production. Shotwright does not use Your Content to train AI models, and Anthropic does not train models on API content.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content you do not have the rights to use.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others, or to generate unlawful, infringing, or sexually explicit content involving minors.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security mechanisms.
  • Reverse-engineer the Service except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without our written consent.

5. Third-party integrations

Shotwright integrates with third-party services such as Stripe. Your use of those integrations is also governed by the third party’s own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

6. Subscription & billing

Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk. Upon termination we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHOTWRIGHT’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR USD $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR LOST DATA.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in-product or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
