Pitch the video.
Then go shoot it.

The pitch, the mood, and the shot list on one canvas. What the label sees is what the camera team shoots.

Build the mood

Drop in reference frames, photography, and clips from the Motions library, then group them into looks. The mood becomes the spine of the pitch.

Break it into shots

Sketch frames or pull from the Motions library, then wire the storyboard into a Shot list node. The list that goes to set is the one the artist signed off on.

Bloom

In a glass greenhouse at dusk, MARLO sings the song back to a garden that keeps growing toward her, until the last chorus overtakes the frame in colour.

The take

I played “Bloom” eleven times before I wrote anything. It is a song about growing back, slowly, after someone leaves, and it does not rush the growing. I do not want to rush it either.

So the whole video is one room. A glass greenhouse at the last blue minute of the day, and you in the middle of it, singing the song back to a garden that keeps reaching for you.

The video

Verse one, it is still and almost empty. You are alone in the glass, the light flat and cold. As you sing, the room starts to answer. Vines move at the edge of frame. Fog gathers at your feet.

On the chorus, the colour breaks. A projector throws moving light across the glass and across your face, and you turn to camera for the first time. By the last chorus the greenhouse has overgrown the lens, and you are singing from inside the bloom.

You, centre

You are never a model standing in for the song. You are the centre of every frame, and the room performs around you. The video is yours, not a concept you happen to appear in.

Camera
35mm, 2.39:1. Slow push-ins, a 50mm that breathes. Phantom at 1000fps for the chorus turn.
Light
Practical only. A single projector, the dusk through the glass, one bounce. The fog carries it.
Color
Cold and flat in the verses. The chorus blooms into saturated green and gold.
Performance
Close and unhurried. You sing to the room until the chorus, then to camera. We hold your face longer than feels safe.
